Women’s Hiking and Wellness Retreat in Iceland

“WHERE PURE NATURE MEETS YOUR UNPLUGGED SELF”

June 23 – 29, 2024

Join us in our native country of Iceland and get ready to experience a deep connection to nature that is pure, raw, and majestic with a small group of health-conscious and adventurous female travelers.

The beautiful island of Iceland in the North Atlantic Ocean offers nature unlike any other. The island is a geological jewel situated on top of the European and North American tectonic plates. Here one can experience the raw elements of mother nature where the stark contrasts of fire and ice meet in vivid colors and geological formations.

The retreat will take place in the unspoiled and beautiful wilderness of East Iceland, a remote and less-traveled part of the country. Here you will find sublime nature, with flowing waterfalls, black sand beaches, lush green valleys, breathtaking canyons and mountains, hot springs and glaciers.

Our trip will happen around Summer solstice which will offer 24-hours of daylight and plenty of time to enjoy outdoor nature and even dance in the midnight sun!

The focus of this retreat is hiking in pristine and beautiful nature as well as slowing down and creating room for reflection and making connections with ourselves and others, all with the help of nature’s wisdom, stillness, yoga, meditation, breathwork, play, relaxation, and delicious healthy meals.

We will also create opportunities to experience Icelandic culture through food, story telling and of course Icelandic wellness practices such as sauna, cold plunging, and bathing in natural geothermal pools.

FAQ

How do I know if this is a good trip for me?

This trip is intended for adventurous female travelers who love the outdoors and wellness. Icelandic nature is unrefined and magnificent. The hikes are moderately challenging so it’s important that participants are physically fit to hike for 4-6 hours daily (5-9 miles with elevation changes up to 3000 ft).  In addition to the daily hikes, participants will be engaged in yoga, breathwork, sauna, massage, hot tub, Icelandic culture, and amazing local and healthy cuisine.

What is the weather like in Iceland in the summertime?

The daytime temperature range in the east coast of Iceland is 45 to 75 F degrees, at this time of year. The weather in Iceland can be very unpredictable. It can change at a minute’s notice. Weather forecasts are not always correct and therefore we as your guides will reserve the right to adjust the itinerary when needed to meet the needs of the daily situation. We will do our best to communicate detailed plans a day ahead. The mantra in Iceland is “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”

What do I need to bring?

A detailed packing list will be sent to you once you sign up for the trip. For now, know that it is most important that you have hiking shoes or boots that are broken in. You will also need layers so you can take off or add on as needed with varying weather conditions including rain gear. And of course you will want to bring a swim suit, yoga clothes and other casual attire.

What type of food will I have?

Food and nutrition are an essential part of this retreat and therefore we have partnered with an amazing chef who will prepare all our meals from scratch. The food will be plant strong and much of the produce will come from a local organic farm. We will also serve Iceland fish and lamb as well as Icelandic skyr (Icelandic version of Greek yogurt). There will be options for dairy and gluten free diet but we cannot accommodate a strict vegan diet.

What if I want to explore more of Iceland?

We have arranged for a connection with wonderful travel operators at Hidden Iceland. Please explore their site to learn about their many amazing offerings. Aside from the various tours, they can also help you book accommodations, a car and restaurants. You can contact them directly through the website or email them at info@hiddeniceland.is. Be sure to let them know we referred you.

How do I get to Egilsstadir?

Egilsstadir is approximately 500 miles from Reykjavik and you can either take a domestic flight from Reykjavik (1 hour) or drive, which will take approximately 8 hours. Silfurberg is located 45 minutes south of Egilsstadir.

Will I have cell and internet connection while in Iceland?

There is Wi-Fi connection at Silfurberg and you may connect there. However, we encourage all participants to spend as much time unplugged as much as possible to optimize the experience. Cellular connection will be limited on our hikes.

“To be in the presence of these Icelandic sisters, Kristin and Linda, is to be elevated in mind, body and spirit. They each have unique skills in transformational leadership, higher consciousness and health and wellness. I have personally benefitted from their wisdom that are building blocks for life skills that will transcend the retreat. It will last a lifetime! ”

– Ami Aronson, Washington DC

“The trip with the sisters, was one of my favorite hiking tours where I got the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful hidden places in Iceland. I personally experienced truly magical moments during our travel as the agenda had some unexpected twists and turns. This type of travel was not only about the physical activity and the amazing landscape we saw, but it also empowered us as participants in many unique ways.”
