Are You Curious? The Power Of Questioning

Happy New Year! I recently read an article stating that one of the top characteristics companies seek in applicants is curiosity. I’m not surprised. Curiosity allows one to have an eager desire to learn and know something.

A curious person has an inquisitive mind that is open to new possibilities. They search for cues and clues in places that aren’t always obvious or visible. I think this is a fantastic quality to have in all facets of life!

In fact, in thinking about some of my most successful clients, I can confidently say that the one thing most of them had in common was their curiosity. They were so ready to learn, to understand all the “why’s” and “how’s” behind their health situation. And one of the best things about them was that they were (or learned to become) “body aware”. This is imperative when assessing and interpreting symptoms that ail us and all the subtle ways the body speaks to us. When changing diet and lifestyle choices, my clients would notice, all the small changes in their bodies. And that is absolute gold because we are ultimately our own best nutritionists if we can get really curious and aware about what’s happening in the body. It’s essentially a quest of writing one’s body “owner’s manual”.

In this way, I find that clients become confident about owning their health and are better able to have those educated conversations with anyone on their healthcare team. They come to me asking me to join them in gleaning under the surface of what is showing up in their health. So often the symptoms are just the tip of the iceberg. How can you know what dynamics exist underneath the surface? It starts by asking the right questions.

The curious clients also ask great questions. But sometimes when they are just starting out, they don’t know what questions to ask because they don’t know what they don’t know. This happened to my client Selina. She joined my 21-Day Reset in the Fall and although she is a curious person, she stood on the sidelines a bit as other participants asked loads of questions. She says that it was those questions asked by others that quickly gave her the fodder to find out what she needed to be asking about as it relates to her health, as well as, health topics she “didn’t know she didn’t know” about.

As the following testimonial shows, she was very successful and part of that success was because she asked great questions along the way.

“On a friend’s suggestion, I signed up for Linda’s 21-Day Reset to address the weight I gained during the pandemic and nagging heartburn. It was a great decision. For me, it was more of a “boot” than a “reboot” because I learned the fundamentals of eating well and also many new tools, tips and strategies to help me control my weight. Linda was such a good coach and inspiration, I decided to work with her 1:1 to keep the learning progress going. In 4 months I’ve dropped 22 pounds and, more importantly, I feel great. My heartburn is gone, my mind is sharper, and I am sleeping better.”

The more we learn and know, the better we do. This is why I have designed my upcoming 21-DAY RESET to be not just a program you follow blindly, but I genuinely aspire to feed everyone’s curiosity by encouraging their questions and answering them all. And sometimes I’m the one guiding them to get more curious about the symptoms they are noticing. And what’s happening in their bodies as a result of the changes we are making.

Join me! And let’s get and stay curious together!

Yours in health,
Linda
