1. I will be on vacation for part of the time. Can I start late or end early?
Yes, no problem. It’s quite common that a few people in each group start a little late or a little early in order to be at home for the 10 days of the detox. Others simply end at 7 days to accommodate their travel schedule and that is absolutely fine too. Your materials, daily messages and audio recordings will be there when you’re ready. And remember, you can join from anywhere in the world as long as you internet access.
2. I am afraid to give up my coffee….will I be sick?
If you start tapering your coffee consumption now, you will be absolutely fine to go off the coffee come Day 1. The worst thing that will happen is you will have a little headache for a day or two. The best thing is that by the end of the detox, you may have forgotten about your morning cup of joe as has been the case for many previous participants.
3. Will I be hungry?
No, the idea here is not to starve yourself, but rather nourish your body with super healthy and squeaky dean foods (no artificial chemicalized junk food). You will be having three meals and two snacks each day.
4. Will there be a meal plan to follow?
Yes and no. I offer a sample meal plan for those who like to follow a set plan. I also offer a daily template of meal options so that you can customize your own menu by choosing any of the simple seasonal recipes from the Detox Guide.
5. I have kids, a job, and a family to feed. Can I do it all while on the detox?
Yes. Many of my past detox participants are in this exact situation and they have made it through. In fact, in some cases the benefits of the detox has allowed them to better handle certain challenging situations. It just takes a little forethought and planning. The beauty is that I guide you through ways to make the detox as simple as possible if your plate is very full.
And to top it off, you will have daily access to me and your fellow detox participants during, before, and after the program.
6. Do I stop my prescription medications when I am on the detox?
No, I do not recommend you stop taking your prescription medication. However, once you’ve made good amount of progress with positive nutrition and lifestyle changes you may get to a point where you can start weaning off certain medications, but only in accordance with your prescribing doctor’s advice.
7. Do I have to buy supplements to take on the detox?
I do offer supplement recommendations, but they are not essential. Real, whole food is the best medicine.
8. Why 10 days?
What’s the ‘magic’ in that number of days? No real magic, other than it’s long enough for most people to see great results, but still short enough to be doable.
9. How many days into the detox will I start feeling better?
It all depends on your physical condition coming into the detox, as well as how dosely you follow the pre-detox guidelines.
10. Can I have a salad from SweetGreen on the detox?
Yes, just ask for olive oil and lemon as your dressing.
11. Is there other detox friendly food I can buy out so I don’t have to cook for the entire 10 days?
Yes. I provide a list of places that offer good options, for grab and go, to participants in the detox guide.
12. Is protein powder permitted on the detox?
I recommend to use nuts and seeds for protein sources during the detox.
13. Can I have as much detox-friendly food as I want on the detox?
Essentially, yes. The key is to eat slowly and mindfully and you will find that normal portions are quite satisfying if the meals are well balanced with some protein and healthy fat.
14. What is our protein during the detox?
Mostly nuts, seeds and beans. Leafy greens have some protein in them as well. During the detox, we are more focused on cleansing foods (vegetables and fruit) and less on ‘building foods’ (protein).
